Around 30 workers are expected to return to work in the coming weeks as the Outrigger Beach Resort prepares its reopening for local tourism tomorrow.
The resort will initially be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays where families can get a Plantation Bure for two adults and two children under the age of 12 at $185 per night.
Resort Manager Russell Blaik says 70 workers are currently getting the resort ready for the reopening and they expect this number to increase to 100 in the next few weeks.
They used to employ around 450 workers before we recorded our first case of COVID-19 in March last year and Blaik says they anticipate returning to these levels in the new year as normal international travel patterns resume.
He says all their workers are fully vaccinated and they are excited to return to work.
Blaik says they are not facing any real challenge at the moment and there is excitement about the weeks ahead and welcoming the locals back once more.
He adds international enquiry is picking up however they expect a surge once government releases it’s COVID Safe Travel plan.
Blaik also says that the guests can expect the highest standard of COVID compliance and safety at the resort.
He adds all guests must be fully vaccinated and they have heightened sanitary and hygiene practices in all outlets and public areas.
Blaik says workers have been fully trained in advanced hygiene care and have the added benefit of being trained in operating a quarantine facility.
