A man in his late 20s from Tamavua drowned while attending a camp at Waiyala, Keiyasi in Navosa yesterday morning.
Police say the man went swimming and was found floating in the nearby river moments later.
Several attempts made to revive him were unsuccessful.
This is the 8th drowning incident recorded this month alone.
The drowning toll currently stands at 31 compared to 25 for the same period last year.
