Members of the Anand Assemblies of God Church of Nalovo, Nadi continue to help students and members of the community that are badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and are in need of groceries.
Pastor Praveen Chand says they have provided lunches to 2 schools with 190 students and will continue to assist other schools in need after the holidays because they want to help people on a long term basis.
They are also providing groceries to the needy.
He says people who contact the church for assistance are affected by COVID-19 and the prolonged dry weather condition.
Pastor Chand says these are hotel workers who have lost their jobs or are on reduced hours or farmers who have had their crops affected due to the dry weather.
The church has used a couple of thousands of dollars for the school lunches and the groceries given to the needy families.
There are people showing interest to help the church in this initiative as people come and help while preparing food and some are helping them financially.
This initiative is supported by people from different parts of the world with the “Anand team” which are the members of the church including the “Faithcafe” which is the online prayer group.
