An 18-month-old child from Matacawalevu Village, Yasawa, was found floating a few metres away from the shore around midday yesterday.
It is alleged the boy drowned.
Police say the mother raised the alarm, when she couldn't locate her son, after which, search efforts were activated by villagers.
