Amplifying girls' voices key to building an equitable future – PS Youth

We must create a more equitable world, we must listen to the voices of girls and amplify their visions for the future.

This has been highlighted by Ministry of Youth and Sports Permanent Secretary, Meli Nacuva while launching the International Day of the Girls at the Marist Brothers High School Lambert Hall.

He says we need to address issues faced by girls, such as gender-based violence and limited access to education and healthcare.

Nacuva says girls are increasingly aware of the injustices they face and are determined to create a more equal world.

The Permanent Secretary says girls dream of a world free from violence and conflict, where their safety and security are protected, allowing them to live without fear.

A student from Adi Cakobau School emphasized the importance of valuing each other and working on individual strengths to drive positive change in society.

She says everything begins at home, as the family serves as the backbone of social influence and interaction.

She adds parents must understand their responsibilities and teach their children manners and values.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Girls’ Vision for the Future.”
