The Fiji Rugby Union is standing in solidarity with Pinktober, with all gate takings from the Shop N Save Fijian Warriors versus Australian Country Stockman rugby match to be donated to the Fiji Cancer Society.

Fiji Rugby says this October, they are playing for more than just a win on the field.

They say rugby is rooted deep in our communities, and just as player welfare is paramount, so is the health of the women who are the backbone of the game.

Fiji Rugby Chairman John Sanday emphasized that this initiative is a powerful way to support women living with breast cancer, salute the survivors, and honour the families who care for them.

He says this initiative reflects rugby’s core values; respect, dignity, solidarity, discipline, and passion.

Sanday says these values transcend the field as they show respect for families supporting their loved ones and stand in solidarity with the community to fund critical awareness and treatment programs.

Fiji Cancer Society CEO Belinda Chan expressed her gratitude, saying they are honoured that Fiji Rugby has taken on this task to support their cause.

Chan adds that the $5 entry fee per person, with all gate takings donated, will go a long way toward breast cancer prevention and early detection, ultimately saving lives.

The Fijian Warriors will take on the Australian Country Stockman at 2pm this Thursday at King Charles Park in Nadi.
