Close to 12,000 farmers were affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasa and the agricultural sector suffered $150 million worth of damages.
Minister, Dr. Mahendra Reddy says their assistance to the farming community continues in terms of land preparation and giving out planting material for food security.
Over 50 personnel from the ministry are providing bele cuttings, packaged seeds, kumala cuttings, chicks and chicken feed to affected villagers.
Dr. Reddy says they have also organized machinery and staff to look after the dead animals so that these animals do not pose any health risk to the communities.
He adds their mobile veterinary clinic teams have attended to the injured animals.
