Acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo has reminded the 53 new law practitioners who were admitted to the bar today to be polite, work hard, study their case and be firm when advocating in the courtroom.

While speaking during the University of Fiji Bar Admission today, Acting Chief Justice Temo says if they are in doubt they must consult their legal practitioners, and be very fair with the benches, about the way they speak and the way they present.

He says they must learn how to sharpen their skills of being polite and their voice projection as those are the skills of an advocate.

He also says they must understand their role when they come to the court and know the court's ethics, talk to their senior counsels, be fair with their clients and not overcharge them.

The Acting Chief Justice has also confirmed that the civil law rules are being revised as they do not assist in resolving disputes within a reasonable time.

He says they have directed the Civil Law Committee which Magistrate Waleen George is a part of to work on the rules.

Chief Justice Temo says civil cases and criminal cases have to be resolved in a reasonable time.

The Acting Chief Justice further says they are working hard with the Fiji Law Society and are consulting the senior counsels to ensure that members of the Society are better served.
