ACS U19 first team to secure semi final spot in Secondary School Championship

The Adi Cakobau School under-19 basketball side is the first team to qualify for the Vodafone Fiji Secondary School Basketball National Championship semi final in the girls’ division after securing 3 wins and topping their pool.

The side was pooled alongside Saint Joseph’s Secondary School, Fiji Agape Mission School and Latter Day Saints.

ACS U19 representative Senikau Taleitaki says coming into this competition, all they were focused on is to have fun and get through their pool matches.

Taleitaki says they had set out game plans to counter their opponents and it worked out well for them.

She says the team is made up mostly of netball players and athletes and it was through team work that they managed to get most of these players adapted to the game quickly.

The final rounds of pool games are currently underway and the schedules for the elimination round will be determined after all the pool matches this afternoon.

Pool toppers gain automatic qualification to the semi finals.

Meanwhile, in some results from the matches that have been played, in the U19 girls division, Saint Joseph’s Secondary School defeated Fiji Agape Mission School 19-3, Swami Vivekananda College defeated International School Suva 28-16 and Suva Grammar School beat Yat Sen Secondary School 27-19.

In the under 17 girls division, Saint Joseph’s Secondary School Blue defeated Central College Lautoka 29-4.

In the U17 boys division, International School Suva defeated Latter Day Saints 20-9.

In the U15 girls division, Suva Grammar defeated Saint Joseph’s Secondary School 15-4, Central College Lautoka thumped International School Nadi 29-0, Latter Day Saints defeated Yat Sen 21-14and Votualevu College defeated International School Suva 18-10.

In the boys U15 division, International School Suva thumped Central College Lautoka 20-1, Yat Sen defeated Latter DAY Saints 22-15 and Suva Grammar defeated Marist Brother’s High School 2 28-0.
