Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu.

The two people who were allegedly hit by cane knives during a brawl at Mead Road Housing on the 3rd of this month have been unable to identify the people that assaulted them.

Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says they brought in and spoke to the person who has been leading the youths in Sukanaivalu Road on Wednesday.

Tudravu went on to say that they also know that Jone Vakarisi is an influential figure in the area but he cannot comment further on Vakarisi because of cases before the court.

Tudravu says there are a lot of people making comments but none of them have come forward and shared that information with Police.

The Acting Police Commissioner says there are also a lot of people talking about the use of drugs in the area but there is no evidence.

Investigators are building evidence in their investigations into the two brawls in Nabua this month.

The first brawl happened on the 3rd of this month and the second occurred on Tuesday. In the first brawl, some people were allegedly hit with cane knives, steel rods and pieces of timber.

Two people allegedly hit by cane knives had to be hospitalised.

On Tuesday, 18 youths from Sukanaivalu Road were questioned and released after allegedly throwing stones at other men from Mead Road.

Two people were also hospitalised.
