Addressing the issue of the massive carbon footprint contributed by students and the public during major events such as the 2025 Coca-Cola Games is vital.

Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association General Secretary, Biu Colati told fijivillage News during the Cokes Technical Official cleanup campaign along the Nasese foreshore that their goal is to balance the negative carbon footprint the games could contribute to the greenhouse effect.

Colati says 96 students will be part of their green team during the three-day competition, and they will be responsible for collecting rubbish within the HFC Bank Stadium.

The General Secretary says most of the rubbish collected by the technical staff along the foreshore consists of plastic bottles and food wrappers.

He adds it is unfortunate people continue to litter despite the presence of rubbish bins along the foreshore.

Colati is urging the public to hold onto their rubbish and dispose of it properly in the designated bins around the area.

The Coca-Cola Games will be held from tomorrow to Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium.
