It was a joyous day for 92 women as they graduated from the Academy of Women Entrepreneurs at the US Embassy.

Chargé d’Affaires Tony Greubel says these entrepreneurs showcased Fiji's diversity and strength.

Greubel says the 92 women represent a mix of ages, locations around Fiji and business experience, but all made the most of this opportunity.

He says the participants and facilitators spent the last 7 months working together learning vital business principles such as planning, marketing, and financial literacy.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa says today represents the long hours of sacrifice for the past 7 months.

She says this is a new beginning for the graduates as they embark for their dreams.

Last year, the US Embassy in Suva granted US$17,360 to the Women Entrepreneurs Business Council and Makoi Women's Vocational Centre to implement this program.

The grant allowed for trained facilitators and the Makoi Women's Vocational Centre to guide women business owners through an entrepreneurship training program.
