80 families in Korovuto Settlement Nadi may soon see an end to their 13-year struggle for clean and safe water, as plans are underway to connect them to the main water supply system.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka visited the settlement yesterday, acknowledging the need for urgent action to address the residents' water issues.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Tailasa Mavoa says most residents have relied on borehole water that is unsafe to drink due to a white residue, believed to be calcium hardness, which poses health risks.

He says they continue to clean their water storage, but it is quite difficult to remove the white substance.

Mavoa says despite numerous attempts to seek help, they have yet to see any real solutions, but they are hopeful that the Coalition Government will assist them.

Responding to the residence, Rabuka assured them that the authorities are now working to connect the settlement to the water reticulation system, providing a long-awaited solution.
