The District of Ravitaki in Kadavu has urged its seven village headmen to be strict in enforcing COVID-19 regulations in their villages following the confirmation of COVID-19 cases in Kadavu.
The District of Ravitaki includes Wailevu, Mokoisa, Muani, Ravitaki, Solovola, Matanuku and Nasegai.
Kava drinking of different household members is banned and anyone can be fined $250 if found breaching this law.
The Council says village checkpoints and recording of people moving in and out of villagers should be done to assist in the contact tracing work of the Ministry if it's needed.
The Council is urging village headmen to ensure villagers are following the COVID guidelines.
According to the Ministry of Health, there are 135 COVID cases in Kadavu and one death.
