More than 500 people have been left stranded as Viti Vanua Crossing has been flooded in Tavua since Saturday.

Viti Vanua Advisory Councillor, Vinod Kumar says due to the continuous rain, people are unable to access the town to buy necessary items and prepare themselves while the warnings remain in place.

Kumar says more than 500 people from Yasiyasi, Tavualevu Village, Yaqara and Rabulu areas are affected.

He says when he went to check on the situation this morning, he saw some residents leaving their homes for medical reasons and to prepare for the current warnings.
