FNU Students Association COVID-19 assistance packages in the form of vouchers for stationery, food, clothes as well as transport assistance was handed over today to 50 FNU students.
The assistance package each student got varied based on their needs.
Another five students were also given scholarships today under the FNU Students Association scholarship scheme.
Under this scholarship scheme, the students get their tuition fees paid off for this semester.
FNUSA President Ketan Lal says there were 200 spaces available for students to apply for the COVID-19 voucher assistance but only around 50 applied for it.
He says applications for the assistance was sent out through the FNU student email platform.
Lal says the assistance packages are funded through the FNU Students Association membership levy which is $50 per year.
He says the levy is split up by semester which is $25 per semester.
Lal adds says most of the association's activities were cancelled because of the COVID-19 restrictions so the funds they had accumulated is being used for this assistance.
He says they are hoping to help more students in phase 2 of the assistance.
Lal says they will continue with the assistance as long as students are applying for it and meet the criteria.
