5 women from Raralevu Village in Nausori have today graduated from a Food Diversification Programme that was organized by the High Commission of Malaysia and supported by the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs.
The five women participated in a 3 day workshop led by the High Commissioner’s Chef Elda Lembang.
They learnt to make varieties of Malaysian traditional cakes using local produce that are abundant in Fiji such as cassava, dalo, banana, breadfruit and sweet potato.
This is part of Malaysia’s cultural diplomacy efforts to showcase and share Malaysia’s bountiful delicacies with the Fijian community.
One of the graduates Laisa Buivia says the knowledge that she has gained from this programme will help empower women in business.
Buivia says they hope to share the knowledge they have gained with other women as well.
Five women from Yadua Village in Nadroga graduated from the programme last week.
There are plans to have more of this programme in the coming weeks.
