47 arrests in the last 24 hrs as people are still found drinking kava and alcohol with those not in their bubble

47 people were arrested in the last 24 hours for breaching the curfew and COVID-19 restrictions.

Most of those arrested were found drinking kava and alcohol in groups and found loitering.

Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says the Southern Division recorded 22 cases where seven were found intoxicated in Caubati, five were found drinking kava at Vuninokonoko in Navua while two drunk men in their 20s were found loitering in Navua Town.

A 19-year-old man was found loitering in the Jittu area while two men aged 18 years were found drunk during curfew hours at Browning Street.

Police also arrested a 23-year-old man who was found intoxicated and loitering in Caubati.

Three others were arrested in Tovata in Nasinu for alcohol consumption while a juvenile was found loitering during curfew hours at Nanuku settlement.

Thirteen cases were recorded in the Western Division where nine people were all arrested during curfew hours along the Tomuka area in Lautoka and Yalalevu in Ba.

Seven drunk farmers were also found loitering in Nakadrudru in Bua.

The Eastern Division recorded five cases including three people who were all arrested for drinking grog at Sauva settlement.

A 22-year-old farmer entered into Nausori containment zone from FTG while a 25-year-old man was driving without a pass during curfew hours.
