A 4-year-old boy was swept away by strong currents while trying to cross a flooded creek with a relative in Sakoca at 6pm last night.
Police say the two were trying to cross the flooded creek from Sakoca to Naivurevure Ni Cagi.
The search efforts were initiated last night but was called off due to darkness, and they have continued this morning.
Police are urging parents and guardians to place greater emphasis on their child's safety, and avoid placing them in situations that would endanger their lives.
