A 39-year-old man remains in police custody following the death of his 38-year-old wife on Sunday.
Police say the suspect is alleged to have seriously assaulted the victim in their home in Narewa, Nadi.
They say the man had a heated argument with the wife over as to why she had arrived home late before he assaulted her.
Police say a post-mortem examination will be conducted to confirm the victim's cause of death as investigations continue.
