Great news for community-based organisations across the country as the government prepares to disburse grants ranging from $3,000 to $15,000 to empower them to promote social cohesion and preserve cultural diversity within their communities.
This announcement was made by Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry Charan Jeath Singh.
Singh says the grant program was delayed last year due to budget constraints, is now set to roll out.
Singh thanks the Ministry of Finance and the government, including the Prime Minister, for their approval to move forward with the disbursements.
He says the initiative focuses on supporting both small and large community-based organisations.
Singh says with nearly 180 to 190 successful applications already approved, disbursements are expected to begin soon.
Singh says further details about the assistance and grant handovers would be shared this month.
