A 27-year-old supervisor from Korovuto, Nadi, will appear in the Nadi Magistrates Courtafter being charged with obtaining financial advantage.
Police say the investigations by the Fiji Police M-PAiSA Task Force Team revealed that on the 30th of January in 2023, the man, along with another person, allegedly dishonestly obtained $600 from a member of the public through the M-PAiSA platform.
They say the victim had transferred the money for an investment advertised on Facebook.
Police say however, after receiving the funds, the man’s mobile number was blocked by Vodafone and no money was transferred back to the victim.
They say the matter was reported to the Nakasi Police Station, leading to the arrest of the 27-year-old man.
The man remains in police custody ahead of his court appearance.
