A 27-year-old man passed away after he was swept away by strong currents while attempting to cross the Waibasaga River in Wainimala on Tuesday.
Police say it was reported to the Vunidawa Police Station, and search efforts were launched where the victim’s body was later recovered near the Matainasau bridge.
A post-mortem will be conducted as investigations continue.
