Good news for 25 children as they will undergo open heart surgery at Sai Sanjeevani Children's Heart Hospital from heart surgeons and specialists from the National University Hospital in Singapore.
National University Hospital of Singapore Head Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon, Professor Doctor Laszlo Kiraly says one of the most common heart diseases found among children is Congenital Heart Disease as almost 1% of all infants less than four weeks old are suffering from this disease.
Professor Kiraly says they are mostly focusing on the quality of life to save and not just making up the numbers.
Director of Sai Sanjeevani Children's Heart Hospital, Doctor Krupali Tappoo says they also have nurses from Australia, the United Kingdom, Mumbai, and pharmacists from New Zealand who are part of their medical mission to provide free surgeries for children with Congenital Heart Disease at Sai Prema Hospital.
Doctor Tappoo says children from the Solomon Islands, PNG, Vanuatu, Tuvalu, and Fiji will be undergoing heart surgery.
She says a total of 23 experts will be conducting surgery for two weeks for 25 children.
