A 24-year-old man from Vatukoula has passed away following an early morning accident in Toko, Tavua.
Police confirm the victim is a passenger in a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old man, who allegedly lost control of the car shortly after 1 this morning, causing it to veer off the road.
Both men sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Tavua Hospital, where the 24-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver remains admitted in hospital as investigations continue.
The national road death toll now stands at 65, compared to 51 for the same period last year.
