FRIEND Fiji Founder and CEO, Sashi Kiran says the 24 hour curfew was needed yesterday as we absolutely need to halt the community transmission of COVID-19.
Kiran says food and medication is their biggest concern right now as the Greater Nadi and Lautoka Area is currently in lockdown.
Kiran says during the last lockdown, there were challenges in terms of food and medication and they are hopeful that there are systems in place to mitigate it during this lockdown.
She says if people need food and medication, they will be see how they can be helped with assistance from the authorities.
The CEO adds she is also hopeful that the government will look into urgently ensuring that hospitals in Lautoka and Nadi are well equipped with medication and equipment.
FRIEND Fiji has been assisting thousands of families affected by COVID-19 and the recent cyclones with food and other basic items in the Western Division and other parts of Fiji.
