21 students graduate from three-day Kathak Workshop at Fiji Museum
21 students have successfully graduated from a three-day Kathak Workshop held at the Fiji Museum, marking another milestone in the growing cultural collaboration between India and Fiji.

The workshop was organized by the Indian High Commission in Fiji through its Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre and focused on introducing young dancers to Kathak, one of India’s classical dance forms.

Many of the participants were beginners and were also introduced to the rich history and evolution of Kathak, gaining an understanding of its cultural and spiritual significance.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Indian High Commissioner to Fiji, Suneet Mehta highlighted that the workshop is part of a broader cultural partnership with the Fiji Museum.

He says several successful cultural activities were held at the museum in December last year, including Kathak dance performances and a Madhubani painting workshop.

Mehta says that, encouraged by the strong response from children and parents, the Indian High Commission has committed to organizing more such cultural programs in 2025.

He says a three-day Warli Art workshop will be held from tomorrow until Saturday, and a poetry recital will take place on Saturday night in celebration of World Hindi Day.

He adds that an Indian Film Festival will also be held from next Thursday to Saturday at Life Cinema in Nakasi, and a Rangoli workshop will take place next Saturday.

The High Commissioner says these initiatives aim to provide meaningful cultural engagement for youth, promote Indian classical arts in Fiji, and further strengthen people-to-people ties between the two nations.
