A swift and coordinated response by Police officers in Lami and Navua, along with the generosity of a member of the public, led to the successful rescue of two men over the weekend.
In the early hours of Saturday, the National Police Command Centre received a report of two men drifting in a fibreglass boat in the Beqa waters after experiencing mechanical problems at sea.
A rescue team was immediately deployed, using a boat provided by a member of the public in Navua.
The team was able to locate the two men, identified as Trevor Joy and Watisoni Taukei, and safely brought them back to shore.
Police say the operation ended positively thanks to quick coordination and community support.
