Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew has reminded his officers to prioritize their health after 19 police officers passed away last year and 14 officers until July this year.
While addressing officers during the joint Central and Eastern Division Medal Award Ceremony, Chew told them to prioritize their health as their work will remain, and the Fiji Police Force will continue to exist long after they are gone.
19 officers from the Eastern and Central Divisions received the Fiji Police Medal, 66 received the Fiji Police Long Service Medal, and 15 received the Fiji Police Overseas Medal.
The Acting Commissioner also reiterated the importance of staying focused and remaining loyal to the oath of service.
He told the officers to focus on their respective roles and responsibilities and perform their duties to the best of their abilities.
He adds that time is limited both in this organization and on this earth, and they should perform them with the utmost professionalism and perform them with a clean heart.
Chew says two or three generations from now, they will be nothing more than memories.
He says to treat every encounter as an opportunity to make a positive impact to leave a lasting impression, as they will not always get a second chance to make a good impression.
Chew also expressed his appreciation to the officer’s families for supporting the work of policing.
