An 18-year-old man is in police custody after allegedly assaulting a woman in her 70s at her home in Siberia, Labasa.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Crime, Livai Driu, says the man reportedly attacked the elderly woman when she confronted him for unlawfully entering her house.
He says the man then allegedly stole liquor and cash before fleeing the scene.
ACP Driu confirmed that investigators are now pursuing the second suspect as investigations continue.
The victim is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
