18 year old businesswoman aspires to expand her business and education
(L-R) Minister for Youth and Sports, Parveen Bala and 18 year old Adiula Raisele

18 year old Adiula Raisele who started her baking business when she was 16 years old says she aims to further assist her family by opening her own coffee shop in the next 5 years.

Raisele received an oven, a microwave, a stand mixture, a cooler to sell juice and an urn from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to help her in her business.

The Sabeto, Nadi Villager says she took over her grandmother’s business as she had started learning how to bake from a young age.

She says she earns about $140 a day from selling her baked goods at the Votualevu Flea Market.

Raisele adds she aims to improve the lives of her 2 brothers and her younger sister and also attend FNU.

Meanwhile, Minister for Youth and Sports Parveen Bala says young entrepreneurs such as Raisele are role models for the youth as they have taken the initiative to start a business on a small scale and have demonstrated a capacity and desire to build these businesses.

The Minister says if someone has the opportunity, there are various formal and informal means of training and education that they can explore.

He says the Ministry has its own financial literacy training programs and he hopes youth will access this when the Ministry launches this program.
