179 students of Dama District School in Bua will benefit from a major face-lift following the commissioning of two state-of-the-art classrooms, a toilet block and an administration office at a cost of $1.4 million funded by the Australian Government.
This funding is under the Australian Government’s facility recovery program, which has benefited nine schools across Vanua Levu.
Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro says Christmas has indeed come early for the students and teachers as this project will help towards the progress of the students and the school.
The Minister says education remains a priority for the coalition government, as it is the best way to invest in children’s life.
Radrodro says Tropical Cyclone Yasa had a devastating impact on the school as three classrooms and teachers quarters were destroyed.
He says the impact of climate change is felt across the globe with the increased number and tenacity of natural disasters and Fiji is no different.
He acknowledged the Australian Government for assisting in the development and education assistance in the country.
