After years of raising water issues with the government and asking for assistance, residents of Bilo settlement in Veisari will soon have consistent and improved water supply.
Minister for Public Works Ro Filipe Tuisawau says the Department of Environment is currently conducting the Environmental Impact Assessment where a 1.2 kilometre pipeline will be laid.
He says this will assist about 200 to 300 people.
He adds the works will include a pump station, storage tank and connecting households to the metre.
He further adds the project will cost $1.7 million.
Meanwhile, the WAF's Community Engagement Team organised an enlightening awareness and consultation session earlier this week with landowners of the Mataqali Nakaubeqa in Waiqanake village as they prepare for the upcoming $1.7 million water project for Bilo Settlement.
The delegation for the consultation included the WAF, the i-Taukei Land Trust Board and the Rewa Provincial Council office.
The landowners were briefed on the project scope where land issues were clarified, and information on WAF services like new water metre connection, billings, and water tariff costs was made available to those present.
