130 businesswomen are expected to benefit from a grant of $47,000 from the US Embassy that will help facilitate a training program at the Makoi Women’s Vocational Centre and the Women Entrepreneur Business Council.
100 women entrepreneurs participated under the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs program last year and they will graduate from the program next month.
One of the graduates, Siteri Simpson says the program benefited her in terms of how to run her business in a simple way.
Simpson who runs Slice Delight says she started her business in January last year and she did face difficulties because of COVID-19.
She adds business picked up around July.
US Charged Affaires Tony Greubel says the grant will expand their efforts to build the capacities of local businesswoman and assist them on their journey to success.
He says they are grateful for the support of their implementing partners and knows that the initiative will blossom under their care.
