Thirteen food business operators in Tavua have been closed for failing to comply with food safety standards.
The Health Ministry says the Tavua Health Office team, in collaboration with the Tavua Town Council Health Inspectors, conducted post-disaster inspections of 23 food business operators.

The Ministry says the aim of these inspections is to ensure all food business operators are providing safe and fit food for human consumption and to prevent potential outbreaks of foodborne illnesses due to power disruptions and compromised food storage conditions.
Nine businesses were issued condemnation certificates, while two were served abatement notices.

The Ministry says the team will continue to ensure all businesses comply with food safety standards.
