The villagers of Waiyanitu in Namosi are pleading with the Government to build a new bridge as their old bridge was damaged due to the heavy rain experienced over the past few days.
Village Headman Joeli Varo says their bridge was destroyed around 4pm yesterday as heavy rain had caused the river beside their village to flood.
He says the flooded river carried huge trees and branches that destroyed their bridge.
He adds they had to build bamboo rafts or bilibili to ensure students and workers cross safely to their homes last night.

He hopes the government will hear their plea as 60 people and 10 families reside at Waiyanitu Village, Namosi.
The Village Headman says officials from the government visited their area yesterday, and they will come again today to assess the damaged bridge and how they can assist them.
