There is a need for digital literacy classes and resources - Melania Tora
Miss Hibiscus 2024, Melania Tora

The need for digital literacy is something Miss Hibiscus 2024, Melania Tora says really stood out for her in the panel discussion at the Pacific Human Rights Film Festival at USP.

Tora made these comments after the screening of the film 'Parenting in the Smart Age: Fijian Perspectives' saying there is a need for digital literacy classes and resources.

She says the voices of the youth are so important, and it's very underrated in a way.

Tora says they don't get a lot of space to say what they feel, but they do know a lot and are observing a lot.

She says everybody deserves to have equal resources, and feels like this in particular is so good at informing not only her as a youth leader and leading other youth, but also as a person and her own education as well.

The 2024 Miss Hibiscus Queen says she thinks there has been a lot of really great and productive conversations around our social media presence as a country and as families individually.

When asked if she would use this as a platform to advocate to people, Tora says she is all for human rights.
