2019 Rugby World Cup champions, the Springboks have set a deadline of October 10 to decide whether they will play in the Rugby Championship in Australia.

South Africa has been named in the competition's draw, but World Cup-winning coach and new Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus says several hurdles remain.

Erasmus says they desperately want to play in the competition as it will be terrible if the Springboks did not play in a year.

He says they had one of the toughest COVID-19 lockdowns in the world and their players were indoors for months but in other countries, players could train or at least go to the park to exercise.

He adds they will be looking at the finances of having Springboks participate and they are working to make this possible.

He adds that they would want to arrive in Australia earlier, as they have to quarantine for two weeks.

South Africa’s first match is against Argentina on the 7th of November, they will face Australia on the 14th of November, they will meet the All Blacks on the 21st and 28th of November, they will face Australia on the 5th of December and play Argentina on the 12th of December.
