No arrests yet in relation to the 2 temple break-in incidents in Nausori.

No arrests have been made as yet in relation to the two temple break-in incidents in Nausori last Thursday.

Police have also confirmed that they will not assume anything until investigations are complete in relation to allegations of sacrilege in both cases.

We had asked police on whether these are isolated incidents or politically motivated for some sort of political gain or to create fear among the Hindu community as the incidents only involve Hindu temples.

The first incident occurred in Baulevu where the Nav Durga Temple was broken into and the holy book, Ramayan was set on fire.

Members of the temple arrived just in time to save it from being engulfed in flames.

The second incident occurred in Vuci where the suspect allegedly broke into two smaller temples in the premises and removed the clothing from the statues of 2 Hindu Gods and threw it away.

Members say the bulk was also broken into and their stove along with some other items are missing.
