The Nasinu Town Council have partnered with the Valelevu Police Station to launch a new initiative focused on empowering Nasinu residents to take ownership of their community's safety and well-being.
Chair of the Nasinu Town Council Special Administrator, Felix Magnus says they are embarking on a journey to strengthen their community from within, starting with the families and individuals who call Nasinu home.
The objectives and activities involved will empower youth groups, religious organizations, and community groups to develop stronger networks and they include leadership workshops for youth groups to foster responsibility and ownership, community sports programs to promote teamwork, health, and well-being, capacity building for religious groups to enhance their role in community cohesion and guidance and cultural and arts events to celebrate and enrich the community identity.
The Nasinu Town Council says the community benefits of this is the empowerment-focused approach which aims to nurture an environment where safety is upheld by the community itself.
They say the initiative will also facilitate better communication between residents and local authorities.
In order to get involved, Nasinu residents are invited to actively shape these initiatives by joining organizing committees, attending workshops, and participating in events.
The Nasinu Town Council says the residents’ involvement is crucial for building a community that reflects their shared values.
They say the future plans for this initiative are to establish this empowerment model as a sustainable solution for communities everywhere.
They add success in Nasinu could lead to the wider adoption of community-driven safety initiatives.
