Former soldier, Tevita Kunawave has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 14 years for killing his 4-month-old daughter by throwing a concrete block through the window that hit the baby's forehead in October last year.

Justice Daniel Goundar says Kunawave killed his daughter in the course of an attack on his wife.

The Judge said Kunawave's daughter had multiple fractures and internal bleeding.

Justice Goundar said the baby died from a brain injury which was a result of blunt force trauma.

The Judge says he accepts that the killing was not pre-meditated.

Justice Goundar further says that although there is some remorse, he is not sure whether the remorse is genuine.

The Judge said the court must make clear that violence perpetrated by men on their spouses or children will not be tolerated.
