Fiji Airways Men’s 7s player Elia Canakaivata says if he had a wish, he would wish for his father and brother to be alive and sitting in the grandstand when he went up to receive his award from President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere today.
Canakaivata’s father and elder brother passed away in December 2020 in a road accident at Matacula Village in Tailevu.
He says sitting on the podium, he missed them both.
The 26-year-old says he would like to play for Fiji for another year and if he gets a contract, he will take the challenge.
Meanwhile, all members of the Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s team and management that won the Rugby World Cup 7s, have received $10,000 each.
