The government is committed to combat unsustainable practices that harm the environment and oceans and we should seize this opportunity to catalyse positive change and pave the way for a cleaner, brighter future for generations to come.

This was highlighted by the Assistant Minister in The Office of the Prime Minister, Sakiusa Tubuna during the World Environment and Ocean Day on Nukumaroriko in Mosquito Island, Lami.

Tubuna says this symbolises a mutual commitment to preserving the environment and the oceans.

He says the 2024 World Environment Day theme: “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience,” is a challenge for everyone to take ownership of God's precious gift to humans.

He asks if we are ready to be the catalyst and if we can stand up for our environment and our oceans, the voiceless whose sorrow we now categorise as the effects of climate change?

Tubuna emphasises that the government cannot tackle this issue alone but with the help of the people.
