Fiji will now be able to use Australia’s C27J aircraft for humanitarian assistance, air transport, and aerial surveillance missions after the Fijian Government signed the Defense Pacific Air Program Memorandum of Understanding with the Australian Government.

The Fijian Government says in September 2023, Australia offered Fiji the use of the C27J on a regular rotational basis.

They say the C27J is a versatile aircraft and can operate with limited support from unsurfaced airstrips.

While speaking during the signing of the MOU at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Nadi Australian Acting First Assistant Secretary Pacific Division for the Department of Defence, Brigadier Nerolie McDonald says the MOU is another example of the deep and enduring relationship that Fiji and Australia have.

Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, Mason Smith thanked the Australian Government under the Vuvale Partnership and acknowledged their support towards the ongoing defence relationships.
