The Fiji Cancer Society is calling on people to come forward and help as they are receiving more requests for blankets from cancer patients, and they barely have enough to distribute in the Central Division alone.

To help cancer patients keep warm during this cold weather, the Society is currently holding a blanket drive.

The Society says 170 people have been diagnosed with cancer so far this year while there were 161 newly diagnosed cancer patients last year.

Program Manager Darisha Datt says their annual target is to collect 200 blankets however they are hoping to receive as many as possible as the demand has increased.

The Society has been receiving numerous requests for blankets especially from patients in the Western Division to see them through this cold season.

Blankets can be dropped off at Fiji Cancer Society’s office opposite the CWM Maternity Unit at Waimanu Road in Suva. People can also contact them on 9986127 for more information.

People in the Western Division who want to donate blankets can contact Margie Erbsleben on 9962115.
