FNPF contributions must be deducted for carers, and a proper policy or strategic framework will need to be developed and endorsed by Cabinet before it can be implemented.
Ministry of Women Permanent Secretary, Eseta Nadakuitavuki highlighted this and she stated that women form the backbone of economic life, from agriculture to tourism, care giving, and entrepreneurship.
Nadakuitavuki says if you are employing someone at home to care for your children or elderly family members, you must ensure that you are not only paying them their weekly wages but also making the mandatory FNPF deductions.
She says it is important to make sure that carers receive their rightful superannuation benefits.
She adds when carers retire, they should have something secure to fall back on.
