Former All Blacks legend Sir John Kirwan has called on English referee Wayne Barnes, who will officiate this weekend’s Rugby World Cup final, to speed up the game and let it flow.
Kirwan says a a stop-start game cannot be afforded and they cannot have water drinks coming on at every scrum.
He says the referee must let the game flow a little bit because South Africa will be trying to slow it down.
He adds the most important person in this contest is referee Barnes.
Kirwan went on to say that the Springboks’ semi final win over England last week was boring and felt that the All Blacks’ victory over Ireland was more entertaining.
He says we all know how strategic South Africa’s Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus is and the question is, what is he going to bring that is a little bit different and what will the All Blacks be able to do?
The All Blacks will take on South Africa at 7am Sunday.
