Human Rights activist Kris Prasad says he will be lodging a complaint with the Online Safety Commission and the Police Cyber Crime Unit by the end of this week as he been subjected to racist and body shaming comments and has also received rape and death threats on social media.

This comes after he spoke out against convicted rapists and serving prisoners such as Amenoni Nasilasila and Nacanieli Labalaba training and playing rugby matches.

Prasad says no one has attacked him in person yet but he has had a lot of people approach him in public and extend their support to the movement for justice and accountability.

He says as an activist, online attacks are nothing new but he is more concerned about rape survivors.

He adds that people can reach out to the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre helpline on 1560.

Meanwhile, the petition launched yesterday to demand the Constitutional Offices Commission to launch an immediate investigation into the actions of the Fiji Corrections Service where the institution is allowing inmates to participate in sports has received almost 1000 signatures in 24 hours.

Prasad says they are hoping to receive 2000 signatures before they present it to the Commission and other stakeholders including sponsors of Fiji Rugby.
