Concerns have been raised by residents of Khalsa Settlement in Nasinu regarding youths engaging in theft and stoning houses late in the night.

In an interview with fijivillage News, a resident claims that youths were involved in the breaking of his taxi on the 4th of September between 2am to 3am.

He says they had called Crime Stoppers on 919 but there was no response, they then called the Valelevu Police Station who informed them that Police are attending to another case and they will attend that report after they finish attending the first case.

The Resident says after this, there was no response.

He is urging the Police to do patrols in their area at night so people can be safe.

The Divisional Police Commander South Senior Superintendent of Police Wate Vocevoce says they will follow up with the complainant to address the claims of the alleged failure to respond to the matter.

SSP Vocevoce says regular foot and mobile patrols are being conducted by the Valelevu Police and backed up by a team from Southern Division Headquarters.

He says they will do patrols in the nearby roads and settlements, and will also cover the spots that are frequented by youths.

He further says they will look into the issues raised and take appropriate action for improved service delivery.
